Say you want a revolution
We better get on right away
Well you get on your feet
And out on the street
Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
A million workers working for nothing
You better give em what they really own
We got to put you down
When we come into town
Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
Lennon said it, Now I'm asking us to all follow through and change the media narrative.
Barack Obama may have to play nice. His supporters do not. We don't have to be undignified but we are under no restraints to be quiet.
We have chosen our candidate because we believe he is the best to serve the needs of this nation. We have chosen him because he has made us a part of this process in a way that no other candidate can comprehend. We have chosen him because his message has empowered us to believe in our power to affect change in this nation.
Now because he lost ONE race, do we piss and moan forever or do we act? (ahem, affect some change)
There comes a time when we need to take things to the street. Perhaps we need to organize a corner rally. Most permits for rallies are very inexpensive. 25.00 dollars in Kentucky.
Perhaps we turn our attention to letter writing and media focus. It is easy enough to find the email or mailing addresses for the media. (See below for a guide)
Here's the deal. What are we going to do to make sure that Obama has an army of support behind him? An "infantry" of sorts to argue back and move the change forward. We do not need to tear Hillary down but we do need to call out the media for its consistent failings to report stories that are important. Further we need to call them on the fallacies that are fed to them and subsequently to us. If the people think they've silenced the Obamanauts or whatever other strange moniker they've given, I suggest they guess again. We only come back stronger.
I'm working class as are most of us in this country. How do we allow people who are part of the "elite" to tell us that somehow we aren't supporting Barack Obama or that we're only supporting him because we're educated 'latte liberals'? I'm tired of certain campaigns claiming that they are working for the people when they haven't been connected to common people for 30 years. When you make 100 million dollars or you're married to it, you simply don't live like the rest of us do. I feel sorry for the people being preyed upon and pandered by these campaigns who are making empty promises that they won't be able to keep when they have to do the work with congress. These are the promises that the candidates are hoping people are too ignorant to call them on. These are the same campaigns who don't think people know how to check and find out that while Obama may have some support from individuals who work in the Oil/Energy sectors, they have reached the top of the lists taking money from not only from individuals but big corporations and large health care conglomerates who misuse their power against the people who need their services the most.
These are the same campaigns that claim wants to cause a revolution.
Here's the real news. Obama can't cause a revolution. The bad policies of the last 25+ years DO have the power to cause a revolution. We can pick who we want to lead but the revolution starts with me, with you, with each of us as an individual and together as proud Americans.
A revolution does not have to hurt nor does it have to shed blood. A revolution only has to change minds and hearts and make this world better for others.
Write/Call/Bring your voices! Don't whine, Don't sit back, Focus, Act!
Act!
